Hesser Cooper Beckham Law Group, LLC files Writ to Louisiana Supreme Court on Child Custody Venue Issue

Hesser Cooper Beckham Law Group, LLC represent the mother and grand parents in a child custody dispute against the father filed in Caddo Parish.  On behalf of the mother and grandparents Hesser Cooper Beckham Law Group, LLC. objected to the venue in Caddo Parish, Shreveport, Louisiana, asserting that venue is only proper in Winn Parish, Winnfield, Louisiana, where the domiciliary parent lived and where the case was originally decided.  The father alleged that venue was proper in Caddo Parish because as a non-domiciliary joint custodian he could file in the parish where he lives. The Trial Court denied the exception of venue.  The Second Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court’s ruling.  A writ was filed to the Louisiana Supreme Court and the parties are waiting to see what the Louisiana Supreme Court decides.  Barnes v.
